Osoyoos Desert Centre

The Desert Centre offers guided as well as self-guided tours through acres of protected desert.  An interpretive facility provides displays and exhibits of natural wildlife that exists in Canada's only desert.
Open from late April until early October.
When you spot the sign just north of Osoyoos, turn off Highway 97 at 146 Street and follow the road up the hill. You will find a gate and sign near the end of the road.

Vaseux Lake Bird Sancturay

Over 200 species of birds as well as wetland plants and animals.  A boardwalk provides easy access to bird blind for birders.

Campground nearby and fishing allowed.

Kettle Valley Railway, Summerland

Spotted Lake

Considered a spiritual place by the First Nations, the Spotted Lake west of Osoyoos is actually on private property, but can be viewed from Highway #3 west of Osoyoos.

Summerland Ornamental Gardens

A favorite spot for summer weddings.  Lush lawns, fabulous flowers, protected areas and native species and a view of the KVR trestle.  Admission is by donation.

Linden Gardens

Once a family apple orchard, Linden Gardens was lovingly designed to be a tranquil setting with a natural flow of flowers and gardens.  The Frog City Cafe offers guests patio seating to enjoy their lunches from April to Oct.

Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory

An array of giant telescopes photograph the skies using radio waves.  
DRAO allows self-guided tours from 10 to 5 pm on weekdays, and once a year about September they have an open house with scientists on hand to give talks about their work and discoveries of the solar system.

The Canal Walkway

A moderate hiking trail open to pedestrian and bike traffic.
Some parking at 62nd Ave off Hwy.97.  The canal walkway offers some nice views.

Mount Kobau

An annual star-gazing party is held at the mountain top in Aug. Located about 10 kms west of Osoyoos, access by a rough  gravel road takes you to within a 1 Km hike to the top where spectacular views await. Look for the survey triangulation marker if you make it to the top!
